Our journey through this historic city begins at the awe-inspiring Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, with its iconic dome dominating the skyline. We’ll explore the elegant Piazza Santa Croce, home to the church where many great Florentines, including Michelangelo and Galileo, are buried. Strolling through the bustling Piazza della Signoria, we’ll admire the grandeur of Florence’s political heart, then pass through the Cortile degli Uffizi, the courtyard of the world famous art gallery. We’ll cross the iconic Ponte Vecchio, Florence’s oldest and most picturesque bridge, and continue to the Piazza Santa Felicita and the stately Piazza Pitti, in front of the grand Pitti Palace. Other highlights of our walking tour include the charming Loggia del Porcellino, the ornate Orsanmichele Church, and a stroll through the Quartiere di Dante Alighieri, the atmospheric medieval district where the great poet once lived. In the afternoon, continue exploring the city with visits to Giotto’s Bell Tower, the Baptistery of San Giovanni, the Opera del Duomo Museum, and the Basilica of Santa Reparata. After a day steeped in art, history and architectural beauty, we return to our hotel for dinner.

The Viareggio Carnival is one of Italy’s most famous and flamboyant celebrations, held annually in the seaside town of Viareggio in Tuscany. Dating back to 1873, the carnival is renowned for its spectacular parades of giant papier-mâché floats, often satirical in nature, that wind through the streets accompanied by music, dancers, and costumed performers. The event draws thousands of visitors each year and reflects both Italy’s vibrant artistic tradition and its love of joyful, communal celebration. With a festive seaside atmosphere and creative flair, the Viareggio Carnival is a truly unforgettable experience.
