This pilgrimage takes us deep into the spiritual and cultural heart of Italy, blending moments of reflection with encounters with some of the country’s most remarkable artistic and religious heritage. We begin in Ravenna, once the capital of the Western Roman Empire and later a centre of Byzantine influence. Here, we’ll marvel at extraordinary early Christian mosaics, explore basilicas like San Vitale and Sant’Apollinare Nuovo and visit the Mausoleo di Galla Placidia. We’ll also visit the grand Basilica di Sant’Apollinare in Classe and the archaeological remains of the Ancient Port of Classe - once a vital link between Ravenna and the Mediterranean world. From Ravenna, we travel to the dramatic peaks of San Marino, the world’s oldest republic, perched atop Mount Titano. A guided tour of its historic centre introduces us to its unique charm and panoramic views, with time to wander its medieval streets and witness the changing of the guard in Piazza della Libertà. We then make our way to Assisi, a town forever associated with the lives of St. Francis and St. Clare. We’ll visit the Basilica of St. Francis - home to stunning fresco cycles - as well as the Chiesa Nuova, Basilica of St. Clare, and the sacred Chapel of the Crucifix. We’ll spend time at the Hermitage of Carceri, nestled in the forested hills where St. Francis sought solitude
and prayer, and visit San Damiano, where St. Clare founded her community. With time for prayer, reflection, and gentle exploration, this journey offers a rich tapestry of history, faith, and
enduring beauty in some of Italy’s most spiritually resonant places.
