Rome, the Vatican City and Assisi with Revd Andrew Corke and Canon Christopher Tebbutt – 9 days

‘After I have been to Jerusalem, I must also see Rome’ (Acts of the Apostles).

This comprehensive programme of sightseeing offers the opportunity to explore the experience of the Early Church in Rome through the eyes of the Apostles Peter and Paul. We will visit St Peter’s Basilica, St Paul’s Outside the Walls and the Vatican Necropolis, drive along the Via Appia Antica, the route Peter and Paul would have taken entering Rome, and discover the underground burial sites and places of worships for the early Christian community. We will also visit the Roman Forum and the Coliseum to appreciate the grandeur of ancient Rome plus the  medieval quarter of central Rome including sites such as Piazza Navona, the Pantheon and the Trevi Fountain. Guided visits to St John Lateran  (the Cathedral of Rome) and the Basilica of St Mary Major, the burial place of Pope Francis, are also included. We then  head to Assisi , the medieval  home of St Francis, set amidst the peace and tranquility of the Umbrian countryside and will visit a number of sites associated with his life.

We invite you to join us on this biblical tour which promises to be a spiritually enriching experience as well as a stunning historical and cultural adventure.
