Known in legend as the land of the Golden Fleece, Georgia is also one of the oldest Christian nations in the world, with a rich spiritual heritage that continues to shape its identity today. Christianity was introduced in the 4th century by St. Nino of Cappadocia, whose missionary work led to it being declared the state religion. In the centuries that followed, the faith was deepened by the arrival of the 13 Holy Syrian Fathers from Antioch, who founded monastic communities across the country, many in remote and breathtaking locations that still inspire awe.
On our journey through this welcoming and deeply spiritual land, we will explore a remarkable collection of early churches, cathedrals, and monasteries, each with its own unique story and setting. We’ll also enjoy time in the mountains, sample Georgia’s renowned wine and cuisine, and take in the unforgettable beauty of its valleys, villages and sacred spaces.
