Immerse yourself in 1,400 years of monastic tradition

I invite you to join me on the first McCabe Educational Trust reunion holiday.

An opportunity to spend a few days with people you have been on pilgrimage with or, if you are new to McCabe’s, the perfect introduction to pilgrimage.

Make your own way to Durham and St Aidan’s College which is a short taxi ride from the coach or rail station.

We will have our own coach for sightseeing and will enjoy four nights together at the St Aidan’s college, which has excellent public areas including the dining room and bar, and which we have the privilege of using in the absence of the holidaying students.

Joining me in leadership is the Very Revd Geoffrey Marshall. We are both MET trustees and know the area we are visiting well.

We intend our time together to be a great time of fellowship as we follow in the footsteps of St Cuthbert, Brother Aldred and the Venerable Bede.

The cost of this holiday is £395 with pretty much everything included, except your travel to Durham.

Some Highlights

The Venerable Bede was early medieval Europe’s greatest scholar and first to record the history of the English nation. He lived and worked as a monk at Jarrow.

The tour begins as we gather for dinner on our first night.  We will send you a map with detailed instructions.

 

MET Reunion Holiday

This holiday is a new initiative and if successful will be planned at a different venue bi-annually. This is not a fund raising event, but an opportunity for friends of McCabe to meet and spend time together.  Our next major fund-raising event will be our third Jerusalem sponsored walk planned for  February 2016.
