The boys at Jeel Al Amal support Portsmouth FC!

The boys at Jeel al Amal support Portsmouth FC !

Barbara Shrubsole, a pilgrim from Bath, recently visited Jeel al Amal Boys Home in Bethany on a McCabe pilgrimage. As a long-time supporter of Portsmouth FC, she was ‘upset’ to hear the boys talking mainly about Manchester United and Chelsea and thought she would address this problem!

She wrote to Portsmouth FC on her return and the boys were absolutely delighted to receive a gift box full of shirts, notebooks and other Portsmouth memorabilia. The McCabe Educational Trust arranged delivery and our picture shows the delight on the boys faces as they opened the package.  Suddenly ‘Portsmouth’ is the team everyone supports at Jeel!  Thank-you to Portsmouth Football Club and to Barbara for her initiative!

But the girls at Lazarus are not missing out !
The Friends of the Lazarus Home for Girls, a charity based in the north east, have sent us some photographs to tell us that construction is now under way at the new home they are funding. The process of purchasing the land and gaining the necessary permissions is thankfully at an end and the girls are looking forward to moving out of their current very cramped accommodation. The funding to complete is not yet in place but work is proceeding in faith. We are working closely with the Friends and have assured Samar and her team of our continuing interest in their wonderful work in Bethany – sometimes in the most trying of circumstances. We will keep you informed of this developing project.

Our partners in Bethlehem
The Trust has two principal partners in Bethlehem: The Al Shurooq school for the Blind and the Bethlehem Arab Society for Rehabilitation. We ask you to remember the work at BASR in your thoughts and prayers.

Without your support, exciting projects such as these would simply not happen.

Thank-you !
