Biliki in Georgia
McCabe director, Rosemary Nutt, has been travelling in Georgia and Armenia for many years and has developed a great love and affinity for the region and its people. Through her connections we have developed pilgrim itineraries to both countries, visiting their rich Christian heritage which dates back to the 4th century. Here, the McCabe Educational Trust supports BILIKI, a remarkable Christian project helping children who have found themselves destitute through no fault of their own. Many are refugees from recent conflicts, others are abandoned children who in desperation were previously begging on the streets.
We always include a visit to Biliki in our Georgia itinerary and strong partnerships have developed as a result. Churches such as St Martin’s in Worcester, who visited Biliki back in 1999, have built an ongoing relationship giving both financial and emotional support. This year our Trust made a grant of £5,000. We will keep Marika Mgebrishvilli, the Director, and her wonderful helpers at the front of our minds and in our prayers. They are so thankful for our interest.
Marika and her work at Biliki is a typical example of the McCabe Educational Trust helping those in need that we encounter on our travels.
