Many McCabe pilgrims to the Holy Land have visited Al-Shurooq.  The main news from there is the departure of the Principal, Ruba Almukarker Aburdeineh, who has moved to become Principal of the Evangelical Lutheran School of Hope in Ramallah.  We send congratulations to Ruba on her new post.  Ever since founder Helen Shehadeh left Al-Shurooq – a very difficult act to follow – Ruba’s visionary leadership has raised the standards of the School, which in recent years has been providing a new wide variety of services to the visually handicapped community of the West Bank and Gaza.

Ruba has recently written:
“I want to thank you for your warm remarks and congratulations on this new position. You can come and visit me in my new school when you are here in the Holy Land. Taking this decision took more than a year. Still most of the time I feel attached to Al-Shurooq. Thanks to God, I’m leaving the school with a good reputation and hope all the best for Al Shurooq staff, board and children.
