Dadhuwa Pandemic Update
At Dadhuwa, COVID-19 has meant the closure of the school for the time being with the pandemic hitting Nepal particularly hard. This has delayed the completion of the new school building following previous earthquake damage. Additional security for the school and its surroundings is also needed following recent vandalism to windows and computers.
The number of pupils enrolled at the school has been falling. This is caused by young families financed by employment in India and the Arab states choosing to live in less remote areas, coupled with a decline in the local birth rate.
Once the pandemic is defeated and the school reopens, it is hoped to provide more local employment to attract young families to remain and to encourage travel companies (in addition to McCabe Pilgrimages) to take small groups stay in Dadhuwa.
