It was in 1983 that Alistair McCabe saw that the best Holy Land pilgrimage required a tour operator which combined professional expertise with a basic sympathy for the needs of the Church. A sympathy which embraces both the Church in the UK and the Church in the Holy Land.

McCabe Pilgrimages was founded to offer this combination of skills to British churches. The vision was to provide an excellent Holy Land experience for the pilgrim, while freeing up tour leaders to concentrate on the pastoral and spiritual needs of their groups.

As the company has grown, establishing a wide-spread reputation as the leader in Christian pilgrimages, a distinct trend has emerged. McCabe pilgrims increasingly value the opportunity to meet the people of the Holy Land. Time is taken to arrange visits to practical health and educational projects as well as the chance to worship with fellow Christians. These encounters are invariably regarded as the pilgrimage highlights and relationships have been formed so that living links now exist between churches in the UK and the “Living Stones” of the Holy Land.

The McCabe Educational Trust is an integral part of our work and a vehicle through which we and pilgrims travelling with us channel regular support to orphanages, schools, clinics and church communities we encounter on pilgrimage.

Our aim at McCabe is to facilitate a pilgrimage experience through which participants return home changed and challenged. Return to Home Page
